This year Dr. Gilberto Bonaga will talk about Geothermal Energy explaining its different aspects and uses.

Where does it come from?? How to extract it? What are its potentials? What problems does he have?? The opinion of Dr. Bonaga is clear on geothermal energy: “It is not the magic wand that solves all Italy's energy problems, but it can make a notable contribution. We are fortunate to have a subsoil with enormous potential. If you work correctly, the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages. Why not take advantage of an opportunity that other nations envy us?

Graduated in Geological Sciences and specialized in water well design, Dr.. Bonaga is today adjunct professor of Applied Geology at the Faculty of Engineering and confirmed researcher at the University of Bologna. Dr.. Bonaga decided to choose the course of study in the field of applied geology because he dreamed of traveling and visiting unattainable places. A dream he fully realized. In his career he followed and coordinated projects all over the world: Saudi Arabia, Laos, India, Libya, Niger, Ethiopia and many others, working for public companies, private e ONG. In Niger, at the end of the 80s, lived the experience that was certainly the most satisfying: “We designed and built 170 water wells for indigenous populations. I will never forget the smiles of the children and the inhabitants who previously had to walk through 10 km every day to get to water.

Concrete and pragmatic person, Gilberto Bonaga aims to achieve a certain result in his research and projects. He has many hobbies in his life, from climbing to diving, from speleology to photography.
